Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 18, 2026

Every Parish (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates two services: the public website at everyparish.com and the Parish Platform at app.everyparish.com. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect across both services, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using either service you agree to the practices described below.

1. Our Services

We operate two distinct services, each with a different audience and data profile:

Every Parish Website

Public — no account required

everyparish.com

A parish directory available to anyone. Visitors can browse parishes, view Mass times, read bulletins, explore events, and discover Catholic professionals.

Parish Platform

Members only — invite required

app.everyparish.com

A private platform for parish communities. Access requires an account created by a parish administrator. Members communicate within their parish, manage sign-ups, view group announcements, and more.

The sections below note where data collection or practices differ between the two services.

2. Information We Collect

Website visitors (everyparish.com)

No account is required to browse the website. We collect minimal data from visitors:

  • Usage data: Pages visited and search queries used to find parishes or events, collected in aggregate to improve the site.
  • Event reminder opt-in: If you choose to set a reminder for an event, we collect your email address and optionally your phone number for that purpose only.
  • Saved items: If you sign in to save parishes or events, your selections are stored against your account.

Platform members (app.everyparish.com)

Platform accounts are created by invitation only. When you create an account or use the platform, we collect:

  • Name: Your display name as provided during account setup or profile updates.
  • Email address: Used to create your account, send notifications, and for password recovery.
  • Phone number: Optional. Collected only if you choose to receive SMS notifications or reminders.
  • Parish membership: The parish you are associated with on the platform, including your role (member or admin).
  • Usage data: Pages visited and features used within the platform, collected to improve the service.

We do not collect payment information, government ID numbers, or sensitive personal data such as health or financial records across either service.

3. How We Use Your Information

Your information is used solely to operate and improve our services:

  • To provide parish information, Mass times, bulletins, and event listings on the public website.
  • To send event reminders you have opted into by email or SMS.
  • To authenticate platform accounts and maintain your session.
  • To send platform notifications — such as group updates, announcements, event reminders, and sign-up confirmations — by email or SMS, based on your notification preferences.
  • To allow parish administrators to manage membership, communications, and parish resources.
  • To send transactional messages (e.g. password reset emails) necessary for platform operation.
  • To improve our services through aggregated, non-identifiable usage analytics.

We will never use your information to send unsolicited marketing unrelated to your parish or Every Parish service updates.

4. SMS Communications & Opt-Out

If you have provided a phone number and opted in to SMS — either for event reminders on the public website or for platform notifications — you may receive text messages from us.

Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies based on your activity and your parish’s activity.

You can opt out of SMS messages at any time in either of two ways:

  • Reply STOP to any SMS message you receive from us. You will receive a single confirmation message and no further texts.
  • For platform members: log in and go to your Notification Preferences to disable SMS notifications.

To re-enable SMS, reply START or update your preferences in your account settings. For help, reply HELP to any message or contact us at the address below.

5. Data Storage & Security

All data across both services is stored securely using Supabase, a cloud database platform with industry-standard encryption at rest and in transit (TLS/SSL). Access to your data is controlled by row-level security policies that restrict each user to only the data they are authorized to access.

Parish administrators can access member information for their own parish only. No administrator of one parish can view data from another parish.

While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no system is completely secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party.

We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

  • With service providers who operate our services on our behalf (Supabase for database hosting, Resend for email delivery, Twilio for SMS delivery). These providers process your data only as needed to deliver the service and are contractually bound to protect it.
  • When required by law, court order, or other legal process.
  • With your parish administrators, who can see member names, emails, and phone numbers for their own parish.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Event reminder data is retained only until the event has passed. If you wish to delete your account and associated data, please contact us using the information below and we will process your request within 30 days.

8. Children’s Privacy

Neither service is directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly remove it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of either service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
