How we collect consent
Every Parish collects SMS consent differently depending on how you interact with the platform:
Event Reminders (no account required)
When you request a text reminder for a parish event, a phone number field appears alongside a clear consent notice. You must actively enter your phone number to opt in — consent is never assumed or pre-checked. No account is required. You will receive a single SMS reminder for that specific event only.
Parish Platform Members (account required)
If you have an account on app.everyparish.com, SMS notifications are managed through your account settings. Consent is collected at the time you enable SMS notifications in your profile. You control which notifications you receive and can update or revoke your preferences at any time.
What messages you'll receive
Depending on how you opt in, you may receive one or more of the following:
- One-time event reminders for parish events you requested a reminder for
- Parish announcements from your parish administrator
- Volunteer sign-up notifications and reminders
- Adoration scheduling reminders
- Direct messages from your parish community platform
Message frequency
Message frequency varies based on your preferences and parish activity. Event reminder opt-ins receive a single reminder message per event. Parish platform members control their notification frequency from their account settings.
How to opt out
Event reminder opt-out
Event reminder messages are one-time and non-recurring — you will receive at most one SMS per event you opted into. If you no longer want a reminder you requested, you can cancel it from the event page before it is sent. You may also reply STOP to any message from Every Parish to opt out immediately.
Parish platform notification opt-out
Parish platform members can manage or disable SMS notifications at any time from their account settings at app.everyparish.com. You may also reply STOP to any message to opt out immediately. After replying STOP you will receive one final confirmation message and no further messages will be sent. To resubscribe, reply START at any time.

Standard message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan. Every Parish does not charge for SMS messages but your carrier may.
