Centuries-old tradition that invokes God's blessing on all who enter one's home. Requires chalk. Inscription made above door: year digits + C + M + B + year digits (representing Caspar, Melchior, Balthasar and Christus mansionem benedicat). Chalk usually made available by the parish on the feast of the Epiphany or in the weeks leading up to it.
